FAQ
GridPay questions.
Clear answers.
What is GridPay?
GridPay is an Android pay-calculation app being built specifically for workers under supported Australian power-industry enterprise agreements.
Is GridPay affiliated with my employer or union?
No. GridPay is independently developed. References to employers, unions and the Fair Work Commission identify relevant agreements and public industrial instruments; they do not imply endorsement, affiliation or sponsorship.
Does “supported agreement” mean every clause is implemented?
No. GridPay uses defined worker and scenario boundaries. Each agreement page identifies supported calculation areas and known boundaries rather than claiming complete agreement coverage.
What happens if GridPay cannot safely calculate a condition?
GridPay is designed to fail closed for unsupported or unresolved conditions rather than silently omit them or invent a calculation.
Is GridPay a replacement for payroll?
No. GridPay provides estimates for supported scenarios. It does not replace employer payroll records, your employer, union, industrial adviser or professional advice.
Why can my employer's result differ?
A GridPay result is an estimate within its supported calculation boundary. Employer payroll may reflect information, adjustments or conditions outside the facts entered into GridPay or outside the current supported boundary.
What agreements are planned for the initial launch?
The planned initial launch agreements are the Utilities Management Pty Ltd Enterprise Agreement 2025 and the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2024, each within defined supported worker and scenario boundaries.
What is the difference between Quick Estimate and Fortnight Builder?
Quick Estimate is the free fast workflow for a supported work scenario. Fortnight Builder is the Pro workflow for building a supported pay period across multiple events, with Saved Fortnights / History.
Is my data stored online or locally?
GridPay is designed as an offline application with core calculations and saved worker/fortnight information kept on-device rather than requiring a calculation backend.
How does GridPay handle agreement or rate changes?
GridPay publishes support against defined agreement and rate periods. GridPay only lists new agreement or rate coverage after it has been implemented and validated.
Which platforms will GridPay be available on?
The current product is being built for Android. No iOS availability or launch timing is claimed at this stage.
